Robledo v. City of Tampa

The Tampa Justice Project is a public archive documenting the federal civil rights case Robledo v. City of Tampa, et al. and preserving the primary-source record underlying the litigation.

On March 17, 2021, Rachel Robledo called 911 seeking assistance. During the police response, a Tampa police officer shot her dog, Nala, twice, including once in the head. Following the shooting, officers detained Ms. Robledo while Nala required immediate transport to an emergency veterinary hospital.

The lawsuit alleges that the detention violated Ms. Robledo's constitutional rights and that her injuries resulted not only from the actions of individual officers, but also from policies, practices, and customs of the City of Tampa giving rise to municipal liability under 42 U.S.C. § 1983.

The Tampa Justice Project provides public access to the primary-source materials underlying those claims, including court filings, body-worn camera footage, official records, photographs, video, and other evidence.

Case Status: Robledo v. City of Tampa, et al. is currently pending before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.
